This years 3rd annual Natural’s Night Out by Chic N’ Kinky was an affair to remember. Located at NYC’s Highline Loft, natural-haired beauties and trendsetting fashionistas, celebrated the beauty of kinky, curly, wavy, colored, spiraled, braided, fro’d out natural hair and natural hair inspired designs.
Hosted by the beautiful Dyesha Hicks, who rocked a fabulous braided-up, blonde and copper-toned fro-hawk, guests rocked to the exclusive tunes of Chrisette Michele’s new album, “Better” while participating in raffles and giveaways.
As a naturalista myself, what I enjoyed most was sampling and discovering hair care brands on the market that haven’t made it to mainstream stores yet. Sure you might have heard of Karen’s Body Beautiful, Eden’s BodyWorks or Curls, but what about Wondercurl or Curl Prep? If you have 4C hair like me, Curl Prep might be a brand for you to look to as it’s specifically designed for our hair pattern.

Now we all know natural hair means BIG BUSINESS. It was truly inspiring to see women of color as the designers, creators, brand managers and presidents of their own companies that cater to the natural hair movement.

With swag bags in hand, guests not only enjoyed a favorable shopping experience on discounted products, but hair seminars were held every hour by different companies to answer everyone’s questions about natural hair-care or product use.

On a final note, there was no better feeling than being surrounded by women of all ages and hair textures that appreciate the beauty and versatility of natural hair. Our hair journeys are all unique, but the message remains the same. WE.LOVE.OUR.NATURAL HAIR.
Thank you to all who participated!
