Okay…As beautiful and picturesque as it is down here in Tampa, I really need someone out here to explain to me how to function in this crazy ass Tampa, FL weather!! Since “Summer” pretty much up and abandoned our butts in New York, I decided that I wasn’t going to stand for this psuedo-Fall like weather any longer. Since I was in desperate need of a few more pool and beach days, I was determined to hunt little Ms. Summer down. So, I grabbed Tia and we proceeded to “fly the friendly skies” right down to the good old Sunshine State itself. What better place to find Summer, right? Wrong!! Oh, how wrong I was. Apparently, this must be Florida’s rainy season, because I kid you not…it has rained damn near every freaking day that I’ve been here. Still hot as hell, but nevertheless very rainy. For example, below is a picture of my view on the beautiful, SUNNY and hot as hades 45-minute drive to Clearwater Beach from Tampa.
This pic was taken about 15 minutes away from the beach…it’s a lone small cluster of clouds in a very sunny sky: This pic was taken as soon as we arrived at the beach: Needless to say that I was a little more than pissed. I should note that this rain shower did not deter the other vacaying folks that were moseying right on past us to make their way to the soggy beach. However, I was no longer interested in sitting on wet sand in the rain, or trying to frolic in the water while it rained on my head either. I know…I’m going to get wet anyway and the sand will be wet from the ocean…but it was still the whole principal of the matter. Mother nature was literally raining on my parade! Sooo…What’s a girl to do while it rains cats, dogs, and billy goats at the beach??? She heads to the gift shop…(of course!)… and “forces” her daughter to take touristy and posed pics just to get her rocks off..(Inserts wicked smile here). Unfortunately, Tia refused to sign the waiver of consent so that her image could be used, so I had to crop her face out…but here’s how we spent 30-minutes or so of good vacay time that I will never be able to get back:
Not sure as to why someone would want a decapitated gator head, or a dead floating shark as a keepsake, but it was a very interesting find nonetheless. I opted not to but any souvenirs…at this point, I was in my “been there, done that, copped the t-shirt and I’m over it” mode. So, after the mini photo session, we packed it up and headed back to Tampa since the rain had to decided to “wait us out.” Once I was comfortably lounging on the floaty in the pool back at my temporary home (before the rain started up there…Grrrrr), I vowed that mother nature may have won this battle, but she was NOT going to win this war! I am determined to have some “Fun In The Sun” dammitt!!
So…What other Tampa Hot-Spots should I hit up while I’m in town? What activities would you deem Nautie Girl Approved? Tell me in the comments below.
