Getting into “Single and Happy” on Valentine’s Day With Tyrese

Another day, another celebrity dishing out advice on love, women and relationships. You may have heard some of actor/singer Tyrese Gibson’s so-called “advice” through his published book “Manology: Secrets of Your Man’s Mind Revealed,” co-authored with Run DMC’s Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons.

Now I don’t know about you, but with so many “relationship experts” out there giving us rules on love, tricks and tips on how to seduce a man, or how to completely make yourself over to get a man, it’s exhausting if you’re single. I myself LOVEEEEE Valentine’s Day and not for the reasons you may think. No, it has nothing to do with a relationship status…but rather just acknowledging those valuable relationships like friends, family and myself. If you’re sans a relationship on V-day, celebrate it! If you’re in a relationship, celebrate that! Most importantly, if you love yourself–by all means–that’s the most important rule of celebration.

As a woman, sometimes society can lead you to believe that if you’re without a man, you’re either broken, incomplete, unlovable, or unworthy. Well, a few days ago I stumbled across this Youtube video of Tyrese giving out advice for “frustrated” women who are tired of being single, and I was surprised on how much I agreed with what he was saying.

Check out his video message and some excerpts below:

“Doesn’t matter what you look like, you’re a woman, you have all the power.”

“Wear your single with a sense of pride because you love yourself and respect yourself to not give it away to everybody that wants it.”

“The reason you’re single is because you have a temple that belongs to God and you protect it…”

“If you love yourself, stop giving away yourself so freely…”

Personally, I loved all of his advice! Sometimes we can be so hard on ourselves when it comes to relationships or lack thereof. Ladies, just take note…as old and cliche as it sounds, when you respect yourself, a man will respect you as well.

What did you think of Tyrese’s advice?
