The Ultimate Trunk Show: Where Dreams and Opportunities Collide

Last weekend the Nautie girls had a chance to attend one of the best shopping and networking extravaganzas in New York City; The Ultimate Trunk ShowWhat started in 2009 as an intimate little shopping soiree in the Brooklyn apartment of Latoya Gordon, the founder and creative director of this dynamic platform, has quickly grown into a full-scale exhibition which showcases the unique styles and talents of emerging artists, designers, and boutiques from around the country. This is a highly anticipated bi-annual shopping experience amongst the industry elite, and definitely an experience that you do not want to miss.

I’m telling you, as self professed product junkies we were in absolute heaven!! However, in the midst of perusing all of the fabulous clothes, clutches and accessories, Angie and I took this opportunity to connect with a few of the masterminds behind some of these innovative and stylish brands. I must mention that at least 75% of the vendors in attendance happened to be women, and you know that we were loving that!

The first stop on the agenda was with the beautiful and extremely talented Maeva Fouche. Hailing from Newark, New Jersey and armed with a B.F. A in interior Design, Maeva is a phenomenal artist that creates soul stirring and one of a kind pieces of artwork. We also met up with the talented duo Asia Kemp and Brandi Jordan who are the founders of one of the sexiest swimwear lines A’Jor Swimwear, and spoke with former attorney Keisha Depaz who is the founder of the urban lifestyle greeting card and stationary brand Punch Street.

The event was in full swing and the Nautie girls were just getting started. Angie and I also had a chance to kick it with Melanie Walker, the uber talented founder and designer of Maylani Jewels. Based out of Washington DC, Melanie designs and creates beautiful handcrafted jewelry. I seriously wanted to buy every item on that table. We met with Kelly the wonderful owner and curator of Gilded Lillies Jewelry, Ms. Brandi Russell the talented clothing designer and owner of the Sacred Heart Collection, and we chopped it up with Deborah Mdurvwa the talented creator of one of my personal favorite jewelry lines the Mdurva Collection. Of course, we also chatted it up with the fellas behind some of today’s hottest brands: Elan Regime, Heirport Apparel, and Francois Duperval.

With over 40 unparalleled designers, boutiques and services, you are bound to find something at this event to tickle your fancy. Aside from the non-stop shopping spree, guests enjoyed complimentary barber services provided by AppCuts Barber Shop, make-up applications from Ketta Vaughn Cosmetics, hand massages, a style suite, complimentary cocktails provided by the Ultimate Vodka Bar, non-stop music, and an array of goodies that were included in The Ultimate Swag Gift Bag.

Now tell me, a night filled with good conversation, shopping, music, and drinks…what’s not to like about that?

Check out the gallery below to see more fab pics of this wonderful event and if you had the opportunity to attend, we’d love to hear from you as well!
